Around the Congress > Young researchers pathways
The associations Halqa, Dîwân, Noria, CCMO and SEMOMM propose to organize at the Congress a "Fil rouge" (Young researchers pathways) of young professionals in teaching and research on the Middle East and Muslim worlds. It will be organized around a series of four collaborative discussion forums focusing on the issues faced by the younger generation in their careers. Facilitated by referring colleagues and representatives of our associations, it aims to share information and experiences around questions posed by participants registered in these sessions.
June 29, 12:30-2pm : The internationalization of careers
Coordinated by Halqa
This first session will address the issue of international careers. It may, for example, discuss experiences of thesis co-supervision, hosting foreign PhD students in our French universities, field trips and hosting abroad, post-doc abroad or even publication languages.
Referent persons : Annamaria Bianco, Christelle Mazloum and Zakia Mestari
June 30, 12:30-2pm : After the PhD
Coordinated by Diwan, association of doctoral students in the history of medieval Muslim worlds and the CCMO, Circle of Researchers on the Middle East
This second session will address the question of the aftermath of the thesis and the construction of a career after the defense. It could for example discuss post-doctoral experiences, preparation for teaching or research competitions, publications, teaching, etc. It will also address the issue of career funding.
Referent persons : Marie Legendre and Julien Loiseau
July 1st, 12:30-2pm : The PhD, a team sport
Coordinated by Noria
This third session will address the central issue of collectivity in our individual research practices. Several points could be addressed: the contribution of associative collectives, the challenges of program/project research, the exercise of writing with several hands and collective field surveys. It will also be a question of evoking the potential collaborations between researchers and other professionals (journalists, NGOs).
Referent persons : Camille Abescat, Simon Mangon, Yohanan Benhaim
